Specialty Department Supervisor

While balancing college classes, Stephon was searching for a part-time job that would fit his schedule. He found that opportunity at The Home Depot and started his career journey as a part-time Cashier. Little did he know, his new job would teach him more than just how to help customers with their transactions—it would turn into a meaningful career. “Balancing academic responsibilities with my new job helped me learn discipline and resilience,” he shares.

Stephon’s dedication and work ethic didn’t go unnoticed. His Front-End Supervisor encouraged him to think about how he wanted to grow his career. With that guidance, Stephon earned his first promotion to Head Cashier. This role became an opportunity for him to build a strong foundation in leadership, while learning new front-end processes and customer engagement strategies.

Stephon continued to develop his skills in roles like Service Desk Lead and Lumber Department Supervisor. “Working at the Service Desk has been one of the most rewarding career steps,” Stephon shares. “I developed my problem-solving skills, expanded my product knowledge, and had the chance to collaborate with associates in new departments.” These experiences paved the way for his current role as the Specialty Department Supervisor.

As the Specialty Department Supervisor, Stephon is responsible for:

• Driving sales by helping customers find the right products for their projects
• Keeping his department clean, organized, and safe
• Coaching his associates to support their development

For Stephon, the best part of his job is supporting our customers and associates.
