Meet Tom, an Order Fulfillment Associate (OFA). Tom has been with The Home Depot for 39 years and loves his job. Hear from Tom on what he does as an OFA, how he’s grown his career, and why he stays.
What’s your Home Depot story?
“I’ve worked at the same store for my entire career. In 1987, I started in the Lumber/Building Materials department. I’ve worked in Plumbing and I’ve served as the Pro Desk Supervisor. Then, I worked in Millwork, Receiving, and as a Pro Driver. Now, I’m an Order Fulfillment Associate.”
What do you do as an OFA? What are your main responsibilities?
“I focus on pulling and checking all orders that are going out for delivery. I make sure there are no mistakes and I help load the delivery truck for Pro deliveries.”
What do you enjoy most about your job?
“I’m an early riser, so I love to work the morning shift. I like to stay busy and I like that it’s a fast-paced job. As an Order Fulfillment Associate, there’s always something to do.”
What advice would you give to someone interested in the OFA role?
“Learning to drive the lift equipment and getting certified will help you keep your work on track.”
How have you grown your career at Home Depot?
“Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to learn all about the retail business and work in many departments at my store.”
