BE HOME GROWN – CAREER SPOTLIGHT
Chadd
Store Manager
A career at Home Depot can start anywhere. For Chadd, it began in the parking lot. In 2003, while still in high school, he put on the orange apron for the first time as a Lot Associate. He didn’t know it then, but that job was the first step on his career path to becoming a Store Manager.

Working the lot taught me my first lesson: no role is too small to matter
– Chadd
“Every cart I returned, every order I helped load, and every customer I assisted was an opportunity to show my work ethic.” His hard work and desire to grow led Chadd to take on roles such as Order Fulfillment Associate and Customer Service/Sales Associate.
As he worked in new departments, like Paint and Flooring, Chadd developed new skills. “Each department helped expand my knowledge, confidence, and understanding of howthe store operates,” he says. In addition to gaining product knowledge and learning how to sell the whole project, Chadd’s experience helped him grow as a leader.
His first leadership role as a Department Supervisor was an important step in his career. He learned that leadership wasn’t just about tasks, it was about people. ” I learned how to lead, coach, and serve my team,” Chadd recalls. “I was committed to developing others, the way my mentors and leaders had invested in me.”
After growing his career as the Specialty Assistant Store Manager and Operations Store Manager, Chadd is proud to lead his team today as the Store Manager. His success is built on the lessons he learned early in his career, including our value of taking care of his people. “I’m responsible for creating an environment where associates feel valued and supported,” he explains. “That is the most powerful driver of success.”
Chadd’s career journey shows how hard work and dedication can turn a first job into a lifelong career. As Chadd puts it, “If a high school kid in the parking lot can become a Store Manager, then anything is possible at Home Depot.”
